From our humble beginnings as a commercial kitchen producing condiments and spice pastes, we have evolved into one of Auckland’s leading pre-prepared meal services.
Following many years of café ownership, I started the original wholesale business from its current Birkenhead premises in 2008. Like all good stories, plans changed along the way.
Regular cafe customers buying spice pastes started asking “but why don’t you just cook the whole meal?” And so we did, originally only opening the shop on Fridays. Within two years we were open full time with demand for our fresh and frozen meals growing quickly throughout the Auckland region.
Following many years of working as Head Chef, Nikki became Casual Foodie co-owner in 2014. Nikki’s unrelenting drive, focus on quality, accuracy, and general expertise in food production are skills we just couldn’t do without. As partner, she also brings new perspective and ideas to the table on a continuing basis. And after 25 years of working together, we are still great friends!
Our Birkenhead store is now open 6 days a week with a team of 13 producing over 5000 meals a week. Nearly all staff live locally.
Much loved by keen foodies all over Auckland, our reputation for delicious dinners and good old-fashioned home baking continues to grow. We are now delivering meals as far as Hamilton, Orewa, Tauranga and Whangarei.’
